Which Form of Delta-8 Is Best for Me?

Right on the heels of the CBD phenomenon, sales of Delta 8 THC products have skyrocketed since its introduction to the wellness market. Word caught on like wildfire once consumers began to appreciate the many benefits of this new cannabinoid. If you haven’t tried a Delta 8 THC product yet, be aware that, just like CBD, this cannabinoid comes in products of all shapes, sizes, and flavors. With that in mind, here are the different forms that Delta-8 may come in, along with the advantages and disadvantages of each, to help you figure out which form of Delta-8 is best for you.

Delta 8 THC Forms: Pros and Cons

In the early days of CBD development, tinctures were the only option. But demand for the product in other forms gave birth to many different product variations to fit every lifestyle and taste. The same holds true for Delta 8 THC. Not only does Delta 8 THC come in the traditional tincture form, some of the other forms available include capsules, edibles, smokes, and vapes. Here is some information on each, along with the pros and cons of using each.

Tinctures

Tinctures like our PharmaCBD Delta 8 Tincture contain Delta 8 THC-rich hemp oil along with a carrier oil, and these tinctures come in a wide variety of flavors and strengths. Tincture oil is sold in tinted bottles to protect the oil from sunlight, and each bottle has a convenient dropper cap.

You take your dosage of tincture by measuring your desired amount into the dropper. Then squeeze the contents of the dropper under your tongue and hold it there for one to two minutes. The longer you hold it under your tongue, the more time the capillaries under your tongue have to absorb the liquid and bring it directly into your bloodstream. You then swallow the remaining liquid. Your digestive tract will process the remaining liquid and introduce it into your bloodstream during the digestive process.

Pros: Tinctures give your body two passes at absorbing the Delta 8 THC. By placing it under your tongue, the capillaries there will quickly absorb it so that you feel the benefits in 30 minutes to an hour. From there, your digestive tract will absorb more so that you continue to feel the benefits for hours. So a tincture gives you quicker relief than an edible, and those benefits last longer, just like an edible.

Cons: While tinctures make it easy to adjust the dose, sometimes figuring out the exact dose can be a little trying. Also, tinctures are not quite as convenient to use as softgels and edibles.

Capsules

Capsules come in premeasured softgels that contain Delta 8 THC and a carrier oil. You simply take a capsule with a glass of your favorite beverage. We recommend taking capsules with a meal as it slows their digestion, which produces longer-lasting effects.

Pros: Capsules are very convenient to take and to take with you. They are pre-measured so that you will get the same dose every time. The gel coating and the digestive process will cause their benefits to last for hours – longer than with any other method.

Cons: Unfortunately, the gel coating and the fact that these pass through your digestive tract means you may not feel the initial effects for up to two hours. From there, you may not feel the full benefits for three to four hours. Also, you can’t adjust your dose as finely as you can with tinctures or edibles. If one capsule is not enough, two may be too much.

Edibles

Edibles come in a variety of shapes, textures, and flavors. The most common are gummy edibles like bears, worms, and rings. You simply bite into the edible and enjoy its taste and texture. Once you swallow it, your digestive system takes over and delivers the Delta 8 THC into your bloodstream.

Pros: Edibles are convenient, tasty, and fun! You can adjust your dosage by simply biting into larger or smaller amounts of the gummy.

Cons: While these edibles are convenient, you have to be careful about storing them at home or work. Leaving them in a hot car would likely melt them into a big gummy ball, and you have to store them in a very safe place at home to keep them away from little hands that might think they are candy.

Inhalants

You have your choice of smoking Delta 8 THC flower like our D8 Cookie Dough Premium Flower or vaping a dab. Smokes come with different terpene profiles for different flavors and aromas. Smokes also come in different forms. You have your choice of prepackaged flower if you want to roll your own, or you can just purchase prerolls or blunts. There are even PharmaRocks if you are serious about your Delta 8 THC dose. If you prefer vaping, you can use a standard nail rig to vape your Delta 8 THC Dab.

Pros: Smoking or vaping Delta 8 THC is going to cause you to feel almost immediate effects. Many people also like the whole experience of smoking their cannabis.

Cons: While smoking and vaping provide immediate results, those results don’t last as long as with the other forms. Smoking is also not as convenient, and you have to be very careful when dabbing because the equipment used for dabbing becomes very hot.
